Hmm, I know how you feel. We are located in south London. I have a 15yr old son but he is most likely lower functioning than your son. Have you tried a youth club for teens and young people with learning disabilities or maybe a sports club?

StillMedusa · 20/09/2016 22:19

I've a son coming up on 16. He has Aspergers and chronic OCD. Good sense of humour. Quirky. Desperate to "hand out" and make friends. Breaks my heart every day.

Am in south Cheshire.

StillMedusa · 26/09/2016 00:18

Eliza.. my son also has severe OCD. It is horrible isn't it :(

Eliza22 · 26/09/2016 17:32

Oh God Medusa... every day, so, so hard.

Hi sorry, came very late to this thread. There are so many of us in the same boat I can't believe we can't put some sort of web based group together for our teens - maybe a FB page?

Anyone interested in a brainstorm?

Eliza22 · 03/12/2016 13:43

What can we do? I feel like I've exhausted EVERY avenue over and over again.

I'm up for suggestions too...

I have a 12 year old boy who is without friends and who will be leaving school to join Interhigh in January. He's into Warhammer and is bright and articulate. He has an older brother and he communicates better with teens than people of his own age. He's friendly, enthusiastic and chatty. He has asd.

Eliza22 · 23/12/2016 21:13

Just wanted to say to you Mums..... "We" have such a damned hard time, don't we? On our children's behalf, I mean. So, Hoping you have a good Christmas and good wishes and love for the New Year.

Hi, just come across this thread. Have 20 yr old asd son in south east London who would also like some local friends. Was there any interest in a group of some sort ?

MsGameandWatch · 11/01/2017 21:04

Hi there, I have a recently diagnosed 17 year old son who is not in education, training or work, he has very low self esteem, high anxiety and low motivation. He has a very limited social life and spends his days and nights in his room gaming, watching anime or you tube.Like your boys he is also very lonely . We live in Leicester. Did you set anything up on FB?

Keepanopenmind · 06/05/2017 15:04

I have a daughter of 16 who is also Aspergers and very much in need of friends outside college. We live in West London so we would love to connect with anyone else ideally with a girl (or boy) of around 17 who would like some company and things to do at the weekend. My daughter tries so hard to be sociable but struggles to make friends.

Efs1 · 29/05/2017 08:52

My granddaughter is 15 and is home for the half term, she goes to boarding school and finds socialising difficult but it's worse when she comes home as she knows no one so I would love to get her together with boys and girls and reading all your posts means we are all in the same boat. Maybe we could form a group or have you done so already? We live near Beaconsfield and easy to get to in or from West London so any suggestions?

Keepanopenmind · 29/05/2017 10:24

Hi, I don't know of a specific group yet....It would be good to at least chat and perhaps the girls could Skype...then if they got on arrange to meet up?

Efs1 · 29/05/2017 11:56

That's a great idea and where are you in West London, my son lives in Acton and we love going to Westfield, do you go there at all and my granddaughter's name is Olivia but known to us as Livvy. I'll have to download SKYPE today.

Keepanopenmind · 29/05/2017 14:11

Ok great!
My Skype name is emily.buchanan153
My daughter is out this evening but perhaps tomorrow morning before 10.30am or after 3pm....?

Efs1 · 29/05/2017 14:31

Oh Marvellous it'll be after 3 as I have to go out tomorrow morning and my name is Erle,I can't remember my Skype name but I'll call you after 3

Efs1 · 30/05/2017 13:29

Emily I've downloaded Skype and if it's ok with you I'll contact you after 4 as I'm taking Livvy to a riding lesson

happyholiday · 07/08/2017 13:31

Hi My son is 19 and has aspergers and like Kavita1 it is heartbreaking that after work he comes home and is in his room isolated.
he is high functioning AS and has a full time job, but is still isolated every day.
So anyone out there who lives in the east Midlands area and is interested in connecting please get in touch.

Asdmum77 · 15/08/2017 09:36

My son tom is 16 and has autism he doesn't socialise outside of his school friends He attends a school in Newcastle which is absolutely amazing that is for children with with disabilities ranging from asd to cerebral palsy. He loves xbox and can chat quite easily on there he adores music and will listen to anything ranging from Johnny cash to Metallica.
He is such bright and naturally funny lad lots of people said he should do stand up comedy in fact he is actually he is my best friend but I think it's time he started trying to branch out a little bit easier said than done I know!.
I would love it if we both made new friends to be honest not just tom I think it would do is both the world of good having someone who knows what we are going through.
A group on Facebook would be fab but I'd be a bit worried about negative posts from other people or maybe even us mums try and exchange email, numbers ect xx Tracy xx
