AS ds just gone to uni

I've taken my ds who has AS to uni today, living in halls. Before we left and on the journey he was in a great mood and quite chatty. Got there, got his keys, hes getting quieter and quieter. Set his room up , only thing he needed to do was unpack his clothes. Took him food shopping, he was more agitated, ended up not buying much. Took him back to halls, said bye and left. I could tell he was extremely stressed. Got home and realised he'd left a couple of things in his room. Rang him, offered to take them tomorrow (only about 40 min drive). He was really agressive (massive sign of stress), said he didn't know where he'd be tomorrow. Also said he's not doing anything tonight. I just want to drive over there and bring him home. I'm sitting here sobbing. thinking of him alone, stressed and miserable. no one in RL understands, colleagues have teased me saying I'll be a wreck while he's having a ball. Only person who would understand (friend who's ds is also AS) is away for the weekend.
Sorry for the ramble, thanks for reading

Has he been away from home before? how long has it taken to adapt to other transitions?

It is so hard and helpless isn't it?

He's been to a couple of festivals and overnight gigs etc but always with someone. He isn't good with change but I thought we had done plenty of planning to prepare for this. He has text me a couple of times this evening and sounds a bit brighter so I'm panicking a bit less!

I was a wreck when my NT DS went to Uni, imagining all sorts. I think if my DD goes I'd have to move house to be down the road!

I took DS2 last September. So much harder than with NT DS1Flowers for you

KittiesInsane · 20/09/2015 18:37

That's so hard for you both.
How is he today, do you know?
(DS1 also has AS and is supposedly off next week -- he's pretending it's not happening, I think.)

I am sure student health have counselling and possibly buddying systems.
