My adult brother has autism (Aspergers) and social relationships are hard.

His "friends" invited him to a concert and he bought a ticket. Was really looking forward to it.

They've stood him up

I could cry for him.

That is shocking behaviour
How is he feeling?

He must be feeling dreadful, i have an ASD db to, I absolutely feel your pain for him.

There's no chance he got the day wrong is there? Did they just not bother to turn up? Poor thing. Makes me feel sick. How has he reacted?

My heart goes out to him , I have my 18yr old SN teen here in tears saying none at air cadets talks to her - says noone wants her to be in their tent - scared of continuing with the DOE because of the overnight camping element - time and time again I see insensitive behaviour from people unable to see how hurt the SN teen becomes (hugs) to you both

Its really hard isn't it tintoys? Is there any way you could get a young person to buddy her, on these overnighters? Have a word with the person in charge? My 14 yr old son has a young man who assists him with a social group thing. (Actually, DS hates it and has recently stopped going but that's another story!).

OP, I feel for your brother and you. It's hearbreaking. My Ds had one friend and we worked hard to keep the relationship going when his family moved an hour away. We'd arranged to pick the boy up and go to the cinema and Pizza Hut. When we got to his house....no one was in. They'd gone out and stood ds up! No text or phone call from the parents or the boy. Ds (ASD) was gutted.

DS1 is 16 and has ASD. he invited "friends" round for his birthday and no one came, despite saying they would. It's rotten and you feel so bad for them. DS has no friends by my standard of the word but anyone who gives him the time of day at school becomes his best mate. Really difficult as he struggles so much with working people out.
