Thinking of the future

DD is 13 now, and on her 14th birthday we will start to do transition planning for adult services. I am slightly terrified as we live in an area that isn't best known for its social services.

We currently have enough money to move, and this is probably the time to do it. Her needs are not high, but she will always be vulnerable. She makes good use of the clubs and opportunities in London where we live and so would need access to similar. Her sister is 15 and we would move for September next year.

I foresee a future where we both live together or close by. Living in the city isn't the problem, but the lack of services here are a massive problem.

Erm, don't want to sound too stupid, but what's the actual question? Where to move to?
(Lives in an area where regardless of need people try not to involve SS)

I'm not sure what the question is, I'm looking for any advice from people who have older children or adults with learning disabilities.

I'd like to know what services are like in their area, and how their children have managed independence in the community as they have got older.

If this is the wrong forum, advice on where to find out would also be helpful.
