Dd is 9yo and recently diagnosed with ADHD, we now have to decide if we should medicate or not. She requires an adult with her constantly as she has anxiety and can have violent our bursts frequently at school, she is also 2 years behind in her schooling due to not being able to concentrate. I'm not sure the benefits would out way the side affects but the school need her medicated to get funding for a one to one for her.

So confused

The school DO NOT need her medicated to get funding and if they have told you this, it is a pack of lies. That decision is between you and your doctor/paediatrician only. NO,NO,NO ... they have no right to demand your dd is medicated. However, reading your post, it sounds like your dd is struggling in the classroom ... have you spoken to a health professional about your options? My ds is 9 and and dx ADHD, he is not medicated. Where do you live out of interest?
