Durable Camera for 18 yo Disabled Godson

Our godson is approaching his 18th birthday and it has been suggested that we buy him a "durable" digital camera. We don't want to get a kids one like vtech or ELC but would appreciate any recommendations for cameras that can stand up to some knocking and more rough treatment than usual!!

No ideas about durability, but dd2 has one with an anti-vibration/shake thingy, that means her stability and focus doesn't need to be quite as good! (She has cp). Something to think about, anyway.

What about an Olympus Tough, they are shock proof and waterproof. I bought one last year for my DD and has been a good little camera. They start from £129.99 in Argos but if you have a look around you might be able to pick one up a bit cheaper.
