Motability changes

I’ve just read in line that the changes to the motability scheme regarding mileage limits only apply to new leases. Is that the case for extending the lease too? We originally ordered the car expecting to be able to extend and have more time to justify the large initial downpayment. The change to renewing in 3 instead of 5 years will hit us hard. If we can still expect the same terms we signed up to life will be much better. Does anyone have an understanding of how it works in our case?

Most not being allowed to extend the lease applies to existing customers.

If you have ordered a vehicle, you can extend until the new vehicle arrives. The grants team still has the ability to extend the lease in some cases, but otherwise no. People with complex adaptations are sometimes allowed to extend.
