Failed ALL 12m ASQ sections - developmental concerns

I hope I’m OK to post in here, another MN’er suggested I do so, as that I may get more help / guidance. Giving there’s no actual diagnosis yet but I’m sure there will be in the future.

I’ve had concerns with my LO since they were little. It seems nothing comes naturally to them. Like NOTHING. They are developing much differently to my first…
12m old and looking at the questionnaire has failed (black) every section!!! Aware it goes up to 12m30d so has another few weeks but I don’t see that miracle happening.
HV is coming tomorrow no doubt I’ll be brushed off again (failed the 9 or 10m ASQ last time and they said they’d come see us again at 12m)
eyes checked all fine. Hearing checked but was unsuccessful in that LO would not let them put things in ears to test, so got to revisit.
I am such a worried mam, is my beautiful baby going to be severely impaired when older :( I just want to help and know everything will be okay

No-one can tell you what the future will hold, but I think you are right to raise this. I wouldn’t accept the HV fobbing you off. Request a referral to paeds. If the HV brushes you off, speak to the GP.

Depending on what DD’s motor skills are like, you could look at a referral to physio. In some areas, you can self refer &/or they have drop-in sessions for babies/toddlers.

Similarly, in some areas, SALT have drop-in sessions for young children.

is your DH/DP around tomorrow? I’ve always found that HCPs listen more of the Dad is with you. Frustrating but they seem to take men’s concerns more seriously.

@TinyMouseTheatre - no he’ll be at work;(

That’s a shame. Do push for a referral to a Paediatrician with the HV. If she doesn’t or won’t refer, perhaps you could book in with the GP and ask them and take DH/DP to that appointment?

How did you get on with the HV @WorriedMama2025? Smile

That is annoying. If she does it again I would go to the GP instead Flowers
