My Dd is 12 and attending a weekend theatre group . We are looking at possible ND diagnosis . She’s adopted and her birth family have diagnoses of a genetic condition that include asd .
the theatre teacher has approached me to say our dd is using behaviour that is upsetting other students , not aggressive but wanting things done her way and sulking if not . This has made a few students cry and not want to work with our dd .
I shared that I was aware of our dd behaviour and possible ND but not diagnosed . She then said they don’t allow children with asd into the theatre school due to insurance and change in the education act . ? I can’t find anything about this change ???
anyone able to help
and yes I’m looking at other theatre groups
thznkyou

Banning all children with ASD from the theatre group is discrimination. I highly doubt there is a clause in their insurance mandating they ban all autistic DC. There’s nothing in the Education Act 1996 meaning all DC with ASD can or should be banned; ask the leader to point you to the specific section - they won’t be able to.
