Hi all.
we've been closely monitoring our 3 year old since he was around 1.5 in relation to his expressive communication, which has been slow
he is in speech therapy, has had occupational therapy, seen a few paediatricians and also has an autism assessment this week

His hearing is totally fine. His attention and eye contact used to be fleeting but is now a lot better and loves reading books with us (we're doing the reading but now he sits through) and joins in social activities with his friends at nursery

He says a lot of single words but is yet to do two phrases and is 3 years and 2 months old. We're not sure if this means he is just developing language or if he is classed as non or limited verbal. It's all very confusing and I am hoping to read some positive stories here on how it got better and easier for some families as all I need is hope

thank you

DD didn’t talk at all until 3. She now has very limited expressive language but apart from that you wouldn’t really notice. She has friends, goes to college and work. At 3 I thought she may never talk.

Thanks for your reply @TinyMouseTheatre - so DD is much older now? When you say limited how limited?

Well she can more or less ask for things like “have you washed my t-shirt for work” but isn’t able to articulate how she feels, which can lead to mealtdowjs even now at 18.
