THis hypermobility thing

Poked DS1 when he was asleep last night a bit - his fingers and thumb seem very mobile as well as the feet (diagnosed by Podiatrist.)
Who would be the best person to see about this? HV has done a referral to NHS podiatrist and physio, do you think it's worth seeing the paediatrician too? I wouldn';t bother if it was just the movements, but the fact that he is experiencing at least discomfort if not pain means I want to do something.

I wasn't going to bother applying for mobility when he turns 5 as I didn't think he needed it, but now I'm wondering if I should.

I have enquired about BIBIC and hope to do that ASAP.

PS wearing the Kickers yesterday = no falls. Might be co-incidental but that is mad, as he usually falls constantly.

Amy treatment does tend be by physio and podiatrist. Paed would probably refer you to them

Agree--physio will refer you to see the paediatrician if they feel it's necessary to establish cause of hypermobility/you need referring elsewhere (eg orthopaedics).

OT addressed my DD's hypermobility more than any other service. Physio has hardly mentioned it and we haven't been referred to podiatrist so far.

OT gave us lots of exercises to improve hand strength and dexterity. Have also found exercises and ideas on the internet if you want some links?

Glad the kickers are working, dd2 has been wearing hers for 2 weeks and she is tripping less and they seem to support her ankles really well 9she does look a little silly in boots with her pretty summer dresses). I'm tempted to buy some for dd1 but she's gone all grone up on me and has to wear pretty pumps instead (which don't give her any support).

OT has helped DD as well, but as well as hypermobility she has a gait issue that needs the physios' atttention (Kickers were good for her too but too broad across the front and she now has Piedros).

OT for hands - (fine motor, writing etc - sometimes joints unstable so they reverse when penholding etc...)

there have been (outgrown piedros) days when i have totally lost it and dragged dd2 to the nearest kickers stockist just to keep her upright.

really you'll get a better idea in school as to what is necessary. a good OT will be very helpful.
