Hello, I am off on holiday in the summer with my son. He is 5 but small and still needs a buggy. I would like to take a small buggy but one that is supporting and can fold into a car boot easily. All the usual buggies are only recommended for children up to 15kg and the McClaren pushchair is large, we have one of those and don't want to take it on the train. Any ideas? Thanks.

We got hold of a Quinny Zapp for DS1 when he first outgrew his other small, portable buggy (actually given to us by his LSA who used it for her son until he was 4 or 5) - it has a higher weight limit than other buggies and gave us a good extra year before having to put the Maclaren in the car, anyhow. Maybe see if you can beg or borrow one of those (or, you can have ours, on the offchance you're in the NE!)

I'm also looking for a buggy for the summer hols for my ds(6). He weighs 33lb and is 112cm so wondering if the zapp will be ok for him. I can't carry him much as it kills my back!

Any thoughts or ideas welcome.

Thanks

I can fit my 6 year old in my Maclaren Quest, i know it only says up to 15kg but the wheels havn't buckled yet . I use a mountain buggy when we go to the beach but its way too big (and heavy) to take on the train.

Buesunbeam - DS2 is 4, about 40lb (possibly more) and about a metre tall (yes, measuring him is a challenge!) and he can sit comfortably in the zapp, but his head has started to butt against the hood and he tries to hang over the side, which is the reason we've stopped using it - it's hard to push and steer while struggling to keep it upright. We only use it for emergencies such as DH forgetting to take the major out of the car on a Monday morning! Anyhow, I'm not sure it would be comfortable for such a tall child and the shoulder straps almost definitely wouldn't fit.

Thanks ouryve.
We'll have to face the shops, just need something smallish for long days in the hols.
