Sure I've seen it recently but cant find it
If you reject the proposed statement what happens in the mean time. Does the prposed statement stand until you reach agreement or do they get nothing in the way of extra help and things like speech therapy.
Could someone please point me in the direction of where to look or even if they know the answer. would be most grateful, thanks

hi, i believe though i may be wrong that until a final statement or is produced the support or lack of it continues as it was prior to writing of propsed statement. however try calling ipsea, sossen, or parent partnership maybe for advice?? or even a sn school, ive rung them in the past about random things even before ds was planned to go to one and they have alway been very helpful!!

When we got ours I immediately wrote back an email listing in detail all its failings (it said nothing). Had some advice from Sossen and then wrote another email asking for certain language to be deleted from the wording (access to, benefit from ......). Met with all contributors to statement once (waste of time). Met with LEA person once (she agreed to everything and then forget that she'd agreed to everything when writing the final version!). Also hired a lawyer who then wrote a very detailed letter pulling apart the proposed statement.
Proposed statement did not name school we wanted.
Got final statement which was largely the same as the proposed statement 3 weeks late because I'd spent so much time talking to them and had delayed the whole process.
But did get the school we wanted named.
Start at school then delayed 5 weeks while school and LEA "negotiated" over the equipment he needed to start school (equipment excluded from statement).
Tribunal set for November.

So if I were to do it again I'd go to final statement asap as the rest was a complete waste of time and energy and further delayed ds's start at school.
I don't believe you get anything out of the LEA until you've got a final statement.

Sossen, Ipsea etc all offer fab advice though. Give them a call.

am looking for it right now ooh found it, prposed statement says ds1 will receive 20 sessions each 60 minutes of salt. This will be carried out over the year or unitl next review. Ds1 is 4 in august I take that to mean he will get 20 sessions in 6 months.

it is an amendment sent to the statement officer saying ds1 will receive 20 session from qualified salt of 60 minutes duration. This will be carried out over the year or until the next review.
Also ds1 will receive 20 minutes of indidvidual therapy activities. Carried out by a ta.
The programme will be devised and monitored by the salt.
Whether it makes onto paper as that is a different matter.

they are probably all too busy getting ready to do battle with you and letting us mere mortals slip through without much of a fight either that or they are trying to be nice cos we didnt get the speech unit.
