Katy I am sympathetic, I went from homestart organiser to carer and felt the same; Is till ahve an irraytyional need sometimes to assert myself as 'one of them' at times (I do try and fight it).

KatyMac · 05/07/2010 17:02

& tbh 'professionals meetings' I have previously attended have been cp so it doesn't sit very well with me at all

Even though I hope know this is different

ok, in my previous job i attended loads of proffessionals meetings. Some were due to CP concerns and some were because other proffessionals other than the SW agreed something more needed to be done, so kind of a way to get across details without the need for families to see proffssionals disagreeing!
Did they say why? Who would go? good luck

KatyMac · 05/07/2010 17:30

Psychologist, Hospital consultant, CAF Manager

I kind of hope the CAF Lead Professional might go - but I'm not sure

No-one from SS - just the CAF manager from CS

There is no TAC (as far as anyone has told me)

LP is supposed to be the Parent Advisor at the school but I think that the CAF Manager has not passed it to the LP after the first CAF because she is unhappy about the situation

OP posts:
lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 05/07/2010 20:14

ok, but they have sorted a TAC right? whole point ofCAF is everyone then see's it, offers what they can and then you meet about 6-8 weekly to discuss progress. First Tac should be within 2 weeks of CAF if possible

KatyMac · 05/07/2010 20:18

No

Don't be silly - that might actually get something done

The CAF was attended by:

the school (well the LSA the SENCO was called away -up north - unexpectedly in the minutes and said she was teaching in an email)

the sensory support

the psa

Me, my dad & a lady from a charity

No medics, no psychologists, no-one else

Do you want to see a copy of the paperwork??

OP posts:
lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 05/07/2010 20:22

thats very odd, a CAF should be completed between you and maybe 2 other proffessionals and then between YOU and I mean YOU decide who you want involved in the TAC, and thats when all others get invited, not when your completing papaerwork.
Who is the lead proffessionals? It should be agreed at first TAC meeting, and you can even be lead proffessional if you wanted to be.
Tell them to get their fingers out and stop messing with this proffessionals meeting and hold an TAC like they are meant to, whole point is honesty and open working with parents!
Makes me soo mad

KatyMac · 05/07/2010 20:25

Hang on

Talking cross purposes

I completed the CAF paperwork with the PSA

Then we had the meeting which are called CAF meetings here - which I guess you are calling the TAC meeting

So the TAC was not well attended - although lots of people were invited

more info

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 05/07/2010 20:29

Ok, TAC is standard name but some places, especially schools arent great at getting words right. CAF = Common assessment framework, TAC = Team around a child.

Im pretty sure guidelines for TAC are you must attend unless you have good reason. So who is lead?

Did anything come up in CAF that may make them think something needs more indepth support?? I just dont see need for proffessionals meetings tbh

KatyMac · 05/07/2010 20:36

As I said the LP is supposed to be the Parent Advisor at the school but I think that the CAF Manager has not passed it to the LP after the first CAF because she is unhappy about the situation (re:diagnoses)

We have a CAF department in East Norfolk which is supremely successful (I deal with them professionally)

I know I am being daft but this meeting really worries me it's not until 22nd

OP posts:
mariagoretti · 05/07/2010 23:20

I feel for you. It's horrible being a pro and a parent... all your skills and experience are needed but you're not 'allowed' to use them as that means you're pushy and imagining things. And in disabling your skill you lose the chance to have your Carer's concerns heard.

I find the trouble with being paranoid is you wonder if the understandable paranoia actually makes it more likely they'll really seem out to get you, iyswim. No advice but you're not alone!

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 06/07/2010 00:51

ah see here in herts you assign a LP very quickly and its a choice between parents and proffessionals.
I often dont mention to people that work with my girls that im working for county council (well up until last week i was) so they just see me as a parent but they do look a little owrried when they find out, which makes me giggle a little as they should do it right no matter what parents it is.
Whos told you about the meeting? have they given a clear reason? Sorry i cant remember your LO dx. Stay strong and you know your doing all you can.

KatyMac · 06/07/2010 07:37

mariagoretti - that is exactly how I feel

Lisad123, DD (12) lost her sight 18 weeks ago - probably psychological but 'I think there is something else going on as well' which is the problem

The PL was set at t

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/07/2010 07:38

Whoops - how did that happen

I meant

The LP was set at the meeting as the Parent support Advisor, but the CAF manger has called the meeting

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/07/2010 16:06

Can the PSA or someone attend it on my behalf?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/07/2010 17:16

I was also told I could have the minutes of the meeting as it was about me, I pointed out it was about DD & got a flustered ?Well yes?

OP posts:
KatyMac · 06/07/2010 20:37

I have no idea why I am over reacting like this
