30/6/10

To SENCO:Can DD go on a trip out (for 2 days)?

Reply:"I think that this could prove to be beneficial for DD, however it is obviously your decision regarding DD's suitability to be away from home by herself for 2 days at this time" plus "fill in a holiday form" (which wasn't attached)

To Office: Can I have a holiday form

Reply: Attached

To SENCO/Office: See attached Holiday form

SENCO: I'll give it to Head teacher

5/7/10

SENCO: Did you get a holiday form?

Reply: Yes I sent it on 30/6
Reply: resend Holiday form

SENCO: I mean the school's holiday form

Reply: Resend Resent Holiday form - point out that it is attached & called 'Holiday form'

SENCO: All forms signed & given to DD (who didn't know she was going anywhere as we didn't want to disappoint her in case the school said no)

It wouldn't cross my girls' minds to wonder what the forms were about so perhaps she'll just have them in her bag and hand them over lie any other letter. Unless they've told her what they are I suppose.

I think that losing paperwork must be a special part of SENCo training. DD1's got a distinction on that bit!

"Permission for 13th/14th July authorised absence - XXX Trip" written all over the envelope....which her friends read out to her

You think??

Fortunately she had worked it out and wanted to go; but I wasn't sure if I was going to have to persuade her
