Whats West Sussex like for SEN (ADHD) provision?

Does anyone know? I currently live in East Sussex & have been fighting almost 3 years for an official diagnosis of ADHD for my little girl. CAMHS did a complete U turn from saying she either has very severe ADHD, or ADHD & something else to blaming it all on my marriage break up. They dont even have a permanent ADHD nurse at the mo, & speaking to anyone is a nightmare. All this time her education continues to suffer. Its driving me nuts!! Any recommendations for West Sussex, or anywhere in south east with decent CAMHS gratefully received.

I live in West Sussex but don't have any experience of CAMHS I'm afraid..

Health/medical stuff has been pretty good although we're also seen at St Georges in London. dd has Tuberous Sclerosis and she's 4..

Education/Statement stuff has been a battle but I think no worse than elsewhere I've heard about on here.

There is a Facebook group called West Sussex Parents Forum you could check out and join and post a question on there and maybe you'd get more joy with that..

All sounds very stressful, good luck with everything..

I dont think anyone goes on that forum much. Anyone have experience of CAMHS in west sussex? or got a private diagnosis of ADHD? if so, how much does it cost & is it recognised by the education authority? Thanks.

I can't fault the medical diagnosis side of things but trying to get anything out of Education at WSCC is like getting blood out of a stone. My son is routinely being failed by the appropriate agencies.

i have no info re chams but i think West sussex is easier to deal with on the LEA level than East Sussex, do you have a statement ? or what do school think ? Which part of ES are you in ? there is a good school north of the county that have an ASD outreach service that might be able to help - or your GP ?

Im in Heathfield area. My little girl doesnt even have an official diagnosis yet, let alone a statement. She is on school action & thats it. CAMHS keep changing their minds as to what is wrong. Been at this almost 3 years now. Feel like im banging my head against a brick wall!!

I would contact Amaze in Brighton for some advice over the phone.

They won't be able to get really involved with your case as you live out of area for them but they'll have a chat and advise you informally I'm sure - and they are really knowledgable and very nice..

They have a website but I can't do the link but easily google-able.. That may help?

Have found their website. Will take a look. Thanks.
