Have one of ds's SALT reports here in front of me, not sure what formal tests were carried out as doesnt state, just that formal and informal tests were carried out. But the results might give you some idea of the tests.
Strengths
Ds attended well to the adult-led activities throughout the 30 minute session, with minimal prompting.
Was able to follow a simple convo and appropriately respond to wh-questions, who, what, where, when.
Could understand the concepts first and last.
Difficulties
Experiences some residual difficulty producing some sounds.
Cannot understand the concepts before and after.
Not familiar with days of the week and named most of them backwards.
Needed prompting in order to sequence sets of 3 pictures in a logical manner.
Ability to tell a short story (create a narrative is immature for his age.
Uses general purpose words ie that, this, there when describing a picture, with might be due to a limited vocabulary knowledge or word finding difficulties.
Had great difficulty interpreting a range of basic emotions by looking at peoples facial expressions and explaining why they are feeling certain ways.
Difficulty understanding using higher level/abstract language, as he cannot explain cause-effect relationships, opposite analogy or identify differences between two objects.
Poor eye contact.
