I was always complaining about ds's old school, so thought i would share some good news for a change and tell everyone what a brill new school ds attends so far.

Ds has now done 2 half days and is loving it including a PE day which he enjoyed!

He was even singing during his CAMHS session yesterday!

SENCO and class TA have been waiting for us to arrive each morning and at the end to tell me how he was doing.

He has had a TA with him all the time to help him settle and she has helped him to get changed for PE, supervised him at playtime and helped him join in. She has been showing him where he needs to line up to prepare him for Monday morning and she will be standing in line with him on Monday.

I know i shouldnt count my chicken etc, i know the school isnt going to be perfect, but blimey what an improvement already.

When i went to pick him today, TA and ds were sat there and he was reading to her. She had sorted him out some books and actually bothered to give him appropriate to his ability books to read.

Despite all his difficulties he is a really good reader (not quite sure how he manages it, he has severe visual tracking difficulties, he couldnt even more one of his eyes for 4 years, so quite an achievement for him)

Old school would send him home with really inappropriate books.

AND this morning she asked him, did you have a good day yesterday and he said quite good AND was there anything you didnt like!

Old school would just to brainwash him by keep telling him he did have a good day, no matter what he said.

After only 2 days, ds is so more relaxed and looking forward to going to school

Oh that't just brilliant news. Thanks for sharing.

No, things won't be perfect always, but none of us ever ask for perfect. SO glad things are better.

Has your ds spoken much about it or is he still getting used to it and overwhelmed?

This is excellent to read Claw, really put a smile on my face.

That's lovely claw. And well done you for finding a better place for him.

Star, he doesnt say much about much really.

But before when i asked him did you have a good day, he would say i dont want to talk about it and refuse to answer any questions.

Now when i ask he tries to remember what he did. I have to prompt did you do reading today or did you do PE today etc etc and i get a yes or no.

He also said last night 'i had a nice day' i asked what was nice about it and he said going to school.

Yesterday when he came out from his CAMHS session, therapist said to me he seemed very excited and had been singing about school during the session.

He has said lots about the old school in the last few days though. He commented to his brother he had enough of getting beaten up everyday. He also made some comments about children bullying him during ASD assessment with SALT and on tape!

Yes I remember claw. I am so pleased for him (and you) I really am. I hope he thrives.

It really does seem like the school want him doesn't it? I hope you remember to take credit for your massive part in this step.

Oh that is fantastic, claw. It's really made me

New school do sound good - obviously it won't all be perfect, bit they are trying their hardest, and have so much more willingness to understand than old school...

How exciting.
