Hi, it's been a while since i've posted, so lots yet strangely very little been going on not really much further forward either.

If you don't remember my son is 7 and displays autistic tendancies, he's been referred to CAHMS for an autistic specific assesment and if we are lucky that should happen some time in the next two years, not bad going considering i first reported concerns when he was 2!

School are taking it a bit more seriously after i threatened to formally complain, that and a phone call to the EP led to a meeting.

Where amongst other things i was told he doesn't need an IEP as his issues are non academical and diagnosis was mentioned alot whenever them providing help came up.

A slightly uncomfortable LST when i queried them, oh how i love this board.

A lot of we need to bid for x persons time if you want that, erm is that my problem?

All in all it left me feeling a little sick and a resolve never to go to another meeting with the school alone.

It's horrible to see how similar everyones stories are but comforting too, i'd have given up long ago if not for here.

The joys of having a passive accademically able child huh!

I have questions and things but they never come to mind when i need them too, my head is filled with far too much just now!

Oh and i have a pragmatics profile to fill in, anyone shed any light please?

Hi ABAT. Satutory assessment - apply now. Talk to IPSEA.

As for the rest. 2 years is ridiculous.

Start now as you mean to go on, and a sure and steady pace. Beaver away collecting evidence, questioning, challenging and you'll get there. Your DS absolutely MUST have a dx and a statement before secondary and you are running out of time.

Start now with a log. Log every single interaction with every single professional on a bit chart with date, name, dept and brief details, including any quotes. 'Imagine' that you are presenting the details to an independent Judge (as quite frankly you might be anyway) and collect evidence on that basis.

If someone says something that sounds dodgy or unfair to you, write to them quoting them back to themselves 'just to clarify' that is indeed what they meant. If it is embarassing they'll change it and you may move ahead. If they are arragont they'll either ignore or confirm, giving you evidence for later.

Most of all, don't panic. Keep moving, and always have that letter to write. Stick on here and if you wonder if anything is unreasonable just ask here and people will say.

I'm in Scotland so it's all slightly different.IPSEA website says they're for England and Wales.

I've been a bit better lately with writing things down on the advice of posters here.

2 years is an improvement, it was at one point 6 yes 6 years long!

Oh I don't know a lot about the scottish system, only that it is rubbish.

Still do the writing thing though. It is your way to higher complaints procedures in due course.

Scottish system is crap ds was assesed at 8 for autism the reasons given for no dx was he interacted with his carers, his EP,teachers and school doctor queried it at EVERY review only to be brushed aside his EP got him into a fantastic school for ASD kids he will be reassessed later this year hopefully.
