lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 24/06/2010 16:38

what was it for? did you get what you were thinking you would?

sugarcandymountain · 24/06/2010 16:44

Well done!

I've heard this from quite a few people recently. I think sometimes the delays come from having to contact consultants but if you send reports they just rely on those.

wasuup3000 · 24/06/2010 16:46

For middle rate and low mobility. Ds has possible ASD, dsypraxia, speech sound difficulties, sensory issues and soiling issues. I wasn't thinking that I would get anything just that it would be a bonus if I did. Can't believe how quick they were. I sent in 3 professional reports and 3 of his IEP's with the form which must have helped.

hopefully i'll have no trouble for ds just sent his off his child one runs out next month he'll be 16, but had to jump through that many hoops to be made an appointee and reports etc that it took ages to get everything together

wasuup3000 · 24/06/2010 17:03

Took us 6 weeks to get through the form but had the stuff needed as going through the stat assess process as well.

wasuup3000 · 24/06/2010 17:22

Sent mine back in April - still waiting!

StarOfValkyrie · 24/06/2010 18:30

I sent an 'incomplete' carers form through and THEY chased the people required to fill in the sections I missed, including my previous employer . I WAS impressed.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 24/06/2010 18:37

carers took less than a week for mine

shimmerysilverglitter · 24/06/2010 19:04

Took three weeks for us but we were awarded it immediately. Mind you took me about two months to fill the darned thing in in the first place. I just felt apathetic about it as convinced we would not get it. DS has HFA but diagnosed and statemented so thought that must have helped.

TheJollyPirate · 24/06/2010 19:26

Blimey that is excellent - took them 10 weeks to get it sorted for DS even though I'd sent copies of all the reports etc.

misdee · 24/06/2010 20:07

blimey thats quick.

dd4 was turned down, but i didnt get the letter in the post so now too late to ask for reconsideration. tbh i am just too past caring to go to tribunal. if she needs further help with physio, medications as she gets older will reapply then.

wasuup3000 · 24/06/2010 20:25

I know what you mean Misdee. I wouldn't have bothered going any further if it hadn't been awarded because all the paperwork was just so horrendous and I have just been through 2 statement processes with all the paperwork involved one case almost going to Tribunal. I need a paperwork break!!

OP posts:
misdee · 24/06/2010 20:26

i just need a break from the hospital appointments and its not just dd4 appointments. in july dd3 has 2 appointments as well as dd4 egg challenge. i get really nervous for food challenges. last one didnt go well

am crapw with paperowrk and have hospital letters floating all over the place.

wasuup3000 · 24/06/2010 20:42

Yes exactly- I have 4 children and 2 are doing school transitions as well! There was an open day at my 6 year olds school today. On the occasions I saw him he walked into somebody twice, walked into an object twice and fell over his own feet several times. He repeated what a teacher had said to him over and over and then himself in his confusion as he also wanted some refreshments that the teacher had been talking about as being for the visitors. Some children came up to me and asked if I had seen my son, whats going on with that? How can they have lost my child and be sending children to look for him? Could tell from the smell of him that he had soiled in school and was still in his soiled clothes when I picked up from school. He wasn't able to tell me if he did it in the morning or after lunch so I don't know how long he'd been left like that.
I know its not the worst of situations and many of you have so much more to deal with but it did help me see how much he struggles at times in school. Its not easy for any of us on this forum thats for sure!

sounds like a bad time.

dd4 issues are pretty minor (food allergies, hypermobility), but do impact on daily life.

dd3 has been in and out of hospital the last few months with UTI's, so am hoping this scan appointment next month comes back clear. am really stressing in case the infections caused some damage. she also has regular eye appointments. Walking back and forth to the hospital keeps me fairly fit though

dd1 is surprsingly balenced and NT.

dd2 has possible ASD but I am used to her, so am not overly concerned. if that makes any sense. I only worry when she seems unhappy.

wasuup3000 · 24/06/2010 20:59

dd1 has NVLD ( a bit like aspergers with dyscalculia thrown in basically) & selective mutism, we have been through the mill with her last primary school being useless and she has been out of school for most of the school year which we got hassle from SS for until we proved she had SEN and then the LEA found her a medical school placement. We are trying to smooth her transition to secondary at the moment. At present she goes nuts if she or anyone shes with steps on cracks even shop floor patterns which made tonights shopping trip fun!!

ds1 we think is relatively ok, has thing about food textures and is a picky eater.

ds2 as described earlier in this thread.

ds 3 pre school have raised concerns about his attention span so we await developments....
