Hi there
Does anyone use the listening program? If so, would you recommend it? I found it last night, and never heard of it, but it does look good. My son has autism and possible apd. The only thing i havent been able to find online is the cost! Anyone know how much it costs. I imagine its quite expensive.
Thanks

We have done the Samonas programme (which is another listening programme) for about a year and in that time DS2 (learning disability, very dyspraxic) has definitely made some steps forward. For example, he has learned to recognise all his letters and seems a lot more organised in himself. However it is always so hard to tell what would have happened anyway and we also do other stuff with him (RDI and HANDLE) so difficult to know.

I found a practitioner fairly close who runs several types of listening programme and she decided that Samonas would be best for Ds2. She loans us the CDs for a small fee and we see her about half-termly to check progress and swap CDs. That costs about £40, but I think she is very reasonable. There is also the initial outlay for a decent pair of headphones. We had quite a battle to get DS2 to wear them at first, but now he is pretty accepting. Normally we do an activity at the table when he gets in from school and I just slip them on him then. As long as the activity appeals he doesn't usually take much notice. I use a kitchen timer and he knows he has to keep them on until it goes off. HTH

We've done Therapeutic Listening with DD2 (3yr), we started when she was 1.9yr. It's completely transformed her, her APD is much much better as is her other sensory issues (and she has a lot). We now use it as part of a sensory diet (as opposed to doing the 15 week blocks twice a year). So whenever she is more sensitive to noise or her balance worsens we play her the cd for a few days and it calms her right down again.

Our NHS OT provides us with this so no cost (as yet).
