DS1 needs a new cup

He has never been very good with drinking so at first he had a spout cup and then a cup like this www.litecup.com/product.php5?id=72 I want to move him on from this but he cant use a full cup properly without spilling down himself. The school tactic is to do this and he often comes home changed as his top was wet As he spills he wont drink unless absolutely necessary so doesn't get enough liquid in. He used to have a cup that had a sort of a funnel in the middle which meant only a bit of liquid came out at a time. It was a standard baby brand that we got from Tesco but they don't sell them any more. Can anyone suggest something that isn't quite a full cup.

Dd2 uses the Avent sports cups at home, she has started drinking from a cup at nursery but she's too messy at home, how about a cup with a straw or a spout like a straw?
this?

this?

He is fine with the straw cups but they are a pita to clean so would prefer something more cup like.

dd1 also can't drink form an open cup - she is scared of the liquid.

we use a camelbak sports bottle/cup for her - sort of a grown ups toddler cup!

we have taken the straw out (the bit that was a bugger to clean), so she needs to tip it to drink - she is ok with this as there is a spout still.

and cleaning wise - it is totally dishwasher safe (other than the straws - that's why we got rid!) or washes really easil, as just cup and lid really.

vital baby/botsused to do a training cup that had a ld witha hole in it - so most of the cup was covered, and only a bit of liquidcame through, hang on will have a look. like this - sure I have seen ones without handles too, hang on

hmm, can't find it now, sorry - will have another hunt later.

Amadeus 360 cup?

Tesco sell them, for around £3.50.

They are a normal cup, except the lid has an integral valve all the way around the cup. Raise it to lips, sip, and the liquid is released.

I have just bought the Tommee Tippee Explora Active Sipper www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/explora_active_sipper_/
DS1 loves it and drinks loads. I think it looks more like a grown up cup that other lidded cups, and you can use it with or without the non spill valve. I put all bits in the dishwasher no problem.
Got it in Asda for £3.50.

I have used 360 cups with success in the past - it does get manky though, it needs dishwashing every so often I think.

The amedeus is seems to be the same as the litecup which is what Ds already had. Yes they get very manky. Im trying to push him more towards the open cup so eventually he can just drink out of a standard cup.

will look at the tommee tippe one.

We have the tommee tippee one as well for DS3, and it all comes apart so that you can wash it all.

What about a doidy cup? They are angled so that children don't have to tip cups up much to get a drink out of them?

staryeyed · 24/06/2010 14:00

we tried a doidy cup way back unsuccessfully but wits been a while we could give it another go.

I bought a 360 cup but it leaks is it a design flaw or did we get a faulty one? We also tried the tommee tippee explorer cup but he wouldnt use it.
