I'm sitting on a coach next to my asd son who is stressing out because he hates driving. He's stressing me out!

he's understandably annoyed that he has to be my partner today. the coach is 2 hours there and 2 hours back and then it's going to be a whole day full of him stressing because it's all new and strange for him.

I don't think I can keep smiling all day why didn't we just keep him home?

Wish me luck....

Hope it is worth it when you get there. Where are you going?

Yeah, I was kind of upset when I realised DD's school trip was the same day as her neurology appt, but then I realised that it just made life easier for everyone. I don't have to stress about finding someone to take DS, I don't have to go along on the school trip, I don't have to spend the whole day dealing with DD's expections (they go to a fun fair place we quite often go to as a family: she doesn't get why they can only have one ride when she goes with the school whereas she can have three or four when she goes with us!)
Bear up, IndigoBell!

Well all over now. It was certainly interesting seeing him in more of a school setting.

I can now see why he needs a statement

The day was absolutely awful, besides the last hour when they sat on the beach. And now it seems that that is all he remembers!

Yeah, in dd1's old school it was easier all round to miss the trips.
Indigo, it's interesting to see them with their peers, isn't it? Bit of a wake-up call though. I thought.

DS due on school trip on Friday and they are going to a lake.....not letting ds go as terrified ds will run and jump (ds cant swim and currents have claimed many lives over the years......why oh why do they take 60 5-6 yr olds to a lake for the day I couldnt expect anyone to jump in and ds is so fast as hypnotic to water!

Blind panic they call it Indigo ;) your ds was so anxious yr ds not in control....the beach must have been relaxing (sea air, noise of sea, visual calmness) and at least your ds enjoyed some part of the day so worth the stress for all that

ps indiogo does your ds have propiception(sp) problem.....ds does and far better sitting...just an observation as sat at beach.

My 7 year old had his school trip yesterday. All he remembers and was interested in is the train timetable.

I should add he has autism
