2 things were suggested for DD2 today at CDC.
One is a specialist preschool for children with ASD and pead assured me that even though she hadnt given a dx today that she would get a place based on the report she is writing. Thats great but its £25 a session but runs x2 a week
The other is a mainstream preschool with suport at £10 a session, so 5 sessions £50 a week.

Thats £200 a month!!

We cant afford it really, have just left work because it got too difficult with DD1s need for routine and difficulties with DD2. Now Im more for trying the specialist preschool but do think if these things are going to help DD2, surely help with funding should be offered?
I know i dont have to send her anywhere but would be nice to do whats best for her. We cant get any funding till Jan next year because shes not 3years till sept.

That's tough. Something recommended that you can't afford....

But I must admit I get cross when they won't recommend something because the NHS won't pay for it. I'd rather at least know what they did recommend....

I guess unfortunately you're going to have to do all your research, including posting here, and decide what to do.

The good news is it's just till Jan, and then it will be funded... Would you be able to go to one of them at £100 per month rather than both? Just from now till Jan?

well she will get preschool funding in Jan but dont know if it will cover the specialist one, does anyone know??

No its £200 a month each!! so either way its £50 a week. I have to choose between 2 sessions spealist or 5 sessions MS. The preschool say either 5 sessions or nothing

Unfortunately, there is no funding for preschool before 3, but they will fund the support. DD1 had to pay for 6 months for the actual place, but the 1:1 support was funded right from the beginning (well, once they knew she needed it). It increased with her, so when she turned 3, she went up from 2 to 5 sessions and so her 1:1 was funded for 5 sessions, too.

I know what you mean about the whole subject, though. DD1 has a statement, and it includes the use of Makaton. We are going on a course tomorrow, fantastic. Except that it is costing £50!!!

Take the recommendations and apply for a statutory assesment asap. It will get funded then (in about a year), but the recommendation should be enough to get you a SA and possibly a statement etc.

Anyway, wrt funding they'll tell you that that is what the ever stretchable DLA is for

oh she did tell me to apply for DLA to pay for it, but it took nearly a year for DD1s to come in, so guessing DD2 wouldnt get a look in
