Time limit for transport to school?

Had a call from transport to say that they're amalgamating two taxis to one bus to save money. So from September ds (3 yo) will be taken to school by that bus. (Two schools next to each other.)
Asked where the other two children live and said I would be concerned if it took longer than 45 minutes to get him to school. Was told that those regulations didn't apply to out-of-borough placements.
Does anyone have a link that might clarify this for me?

In theory ids placement is only around 30-40 mins but in the morning you could add 30 more easily I'm not sure when goes September what time pick up will be

bit them this is the most suitable place nothing nearer so be intresting see how ds coped

Probably worth checking with IPSEA again. I'd like to know the answer as I keep hearing different things....e.g., there's an hour limit and that it's not a legal requirement anyway, just a recommended time. DS's school bus takes 45 minutes, sometimes more, and he lives 2 miles away. How can this be?!

I know that buses are replacing taxi's all over the place due to the huge transport bill.

my LA were working on a journey time of an hour being appropriate recently, wehn trying to make us change our choice of school.

advice we were given is that an hoour is what is considered by Tribunal too.

that was an out of borough placement.

up here in Scotland its a hour but as far as i know it isnt law just a guideline and only applies to pupils staying within the LA boundary.

GCC have decided to merge ds's school with one on the other side of the city in a really congested area in August and change the start time from 9.30 to 9am.

we stay literally 5 mins from the Glasgow boundary line so i have stated ds wont be going out the door before 7.55am so he'll probably be late after negotiating the busy M8 every morning and woe betide anyone who challenges me as at the end of the day they moved the goalposts not me!! [small rant!]

Have now looked on local parental advice. They say 1 hour 15 minutes within borough - which obviously clashes with IPSEA site. Then says this time excludes out of borough placements. Only room for argument is the further qualification that cases of pre-school children may be considered individually.
Guess I'll be trying to get through to IPSEA in the morning (always takes so long!)

In our borough it's 1 hour 15 mins, DS has exactly that! Leaves the house at 7.35 and arrives at 8.50 for a 9am start. I did fuss at the beginning when he started (Reception, age 4.5 exactly) but actually it's been fine. DS loves the time on the bus - he has great fun and is disappointed that he's unlikely to have a bus next year as it will probably be a taxi and a shorter travel time!
