I've just started to overuse 'alarmed' and 'paucity'

I don't have very extensive vocab

Unacceptable
Detrimental
Inadequate

is that the sort of thing?

StarOfValkyrie · 19/06/2010 18:06

brilliant, thanks.

Inadequate is a good one because the provision is supposed to be 'adequate' isn't it, - so I suppose 'inappropriate' is also good.

Already got detrimental, but sure I can find a gap for 'unacceptable'!

Appalling
Unsatisfactory
Inexcusable
Atrocious
Scandalous
Reprehensible
Shameful

StarOfValkyrie · 19/06/2010 18:51

LOL yay. Will find a place for them all!

My husband has just pointed out that there is one term which covers all of the above.

What is it?

Local Education Authority.

Inappropropriate as provision has to be appropriate and not just adequate (and appropriate for every single one of his needs!)

Not wanting to rain on your parade but if you keep it factual it probably makes you sound more reasoned and balanced rather than subjective and emotive.

I use all these words and then DH goes through and crosses them all out! But he lets me get it out of my system first.

If you present it as fact eg SALT visited once and did x and this did not lead to any significant progress / is not appropriate to meet DS level of need etc etc then its factual - if you then use descriptive words it becomes more subjective and more about your opinion. It probably reads better if you take the emotion and outrage out of it.

Just my view. Sorry

Ampersand44 · 19/06/2010 19:16

Directly contravening (insert appropriate phrase from COP)

StarOfValkyrie · 19/06/2010 20:26

Thanks everyone. Loving the words

Agnes LOL, thanks but I did the opposite to you, - that's why I need help. I wrote a short draft versaion and my legal advocate who said it looked too professional and not human/parenty enough.

You're right though, I have to keep the factual tone, but with a few tears!

Like the idea of puting 'dangerously' before one or two too!

Don't forget 'disappointing' as in 'has displayed a disappointing disregard for the X, Y or Z'.

StarOfValkyrie · 19/06/2010 23:02

ooooh, I love

'disappointing disregard'

sounds poetic!

Shall tell DH that!
