I never had to do this. We just filled in the forms and that was that.

Haven't heard of anyone having to send pay slips.

Sorry, not much help!!

coppertop · 13/08/2005 17:45

When we made our first application (last year) the FF sent someone round to see us. The letter asked us to have any relevant paperwork ready - including pay-slips, bank statements etc. The assessor looked through them while she was here but we didn't have to send them anywhere.

jayzmummy · 13/08/2005 17:58

When we appilied to FF we to didnt have to send our payslips etc off to them, they just asked if we could have them available when the assessor came to visit us.
My friend lives very close to the FF offices and she was asked to send her paperwork into them. She had an assessment done over the phone, where as we had a home visit.
Both of us recieved a payment from FF.

I think it may depend on where you live and if they have an assesor available to make a home visit.

Quick question from me now.....do the FF contact you when its time to make a new application or do you have to contact them? We were told to reapply after 12 months.

Chocol8 · 13/08/2005 18:31

Hi Jayzmummy - yes you do have to reapply. I haven't done so after getting an award last year.

When the assessor came to the house, she left a sheet with pics and details of washing machines and told me that if I ever needed one, not to buy one but to apply for one.

When I called as mine broke, 11 months later, I was told very curtly that they would only give me one within 6 months of my claim. I then got a letter which was very short and actually quite rude IMO. I haven't reapplied this year, although I could do with some help, because of this.

Stingo, sorry not much help, I remember sending off my payslips etc with the forms and then receiving them back quite quickly. Altogether, it took nearly 6 months as they'd lost my forms, and then fast tracked me. I then had the assessor round and she helped me fill in my dla forms - although not very well, admittedly as it was turned down.

It's all quite painless, and the assessor I had was very helpful.

Mind you, it was about 3 years ago!!! I maybe had to show pay slips when she visited!

Yes you defo contact them.

We have applied 3 times now and have never had any hassle, apart from the assessor suggesting a dishwasher, then when we mentioned it another time, they were adamant that they didn't give money for dish washers. I hadn't wanted one originally, it was the assessor that planted the thought!!!!

jayzmummy · 13/08/2005 18:52

anniebear...my friend had a dishwasher through family fund last year as well as a new sofa???

beep · 13/08/2005 18:59

you can only apply once a year but you can ask for more than one thing

anniebear · 13/08/2005 20:11

a sofa?!!!!! lol

stingo · 14/08/2005 19:13

how many things at a time can you apply for?

Also i know you can't earn more than £22.000 to qualify - does that amount include the dla / wftc i.e - if dh earned £14.500 and we got £8.000 from dla / wftc a yr that takes it over the £22.000 - or do they just count the £14.500?

they dont count dla but they do count carers allowance, not sure that they count tax credits.

jenk1 · 15/08/2005 13:01

how do u qualify for the family fund?

onlyjoking9329 · 15/08/2005 13:05

to qualify then you have to have a child with additional needs and there is an income limit. you can apply on line too, afraid i don't do links !

jenk1 · 15/08/2005 13:34

my son has aspergers would this qualify?

jayzmummy · 15/08/2005 16:47

Davros · 25/08/2005 19:49

Good news Fairydust. Are you buying a car? or learning to drive? or both? Do we have to keep out of the way?

fairydust · 25/08/2005 23:27

learning to drive god help the roads.
We get higher rate mobility so i'll get a car thruogh that after.

Davros · 26/08/2005 09:36

Wahey! You won't believe the difference it will make.

Ronnie701 · 27/08/2005 18:11

Greetings, I've claimed from the FF over the last 10+ years (driving lessons, washing machine, tumble dryer, waterproof bed, hols, car repairs ...)

I've NEVER been visited by them.

You can also claim 'the community care grant' from DSS if you receive inc supp

Check out Carers centres in your area's - mine helps with 'peace of mind grants' to help pay for practically anything that helps your 'peace of mind' (I got walkie talkies for my DD with ADHD so she could play at park and still be in contact with home - trampoline, so she can bounce till she's sick & burn up all that excess energy )

Hope this helps, TTFN Ronnie
