You would think we were the only people ever to consider moving home at this time of year.
I understand that schools have their usual admissions routine, but buying and selling can't always happen at the optimum time for schools admission process. We're jhoping to complete in August which suits DH best as he is a teacher and will have time off.
I'm trying to find a school which will take DS (year 4) and DD (nursery) in Sept, and every single school has been negative about DD, pointing out that they were already full (despite the fact that most schools find there are one or two who don't turn up as they have moved away over the summer) and have a waiting list. When I point out that DD's statement should mean she has proirity, they are even moe negative.
One head teacher even said to me, 'we've already got one of those (children with a statement for complex needs) starting in Sept. I said (taken aback) well, that's good, isn't it? DD won't be the only one! She then stated complaining about finding staff and resources. I think it very telling that the SENCO was on long-term sick leave. And of course, this is the school opposite the house we want to buy.
I can't even officially apply yet as I don't have an address in the borough we are moving to.
