dd has to have meds sent into school, now due to wastage i only send a small bottle in each time.
it seems like everytime she is at respite the nurse writes a note in her diary, that they need more(even though most of it is enough for a half term)
so she came home and there is a note saying they are out of the meds that are in the small bottle......
so I ring for them to double check, and wait for nurse to ring back,,, it is now 5.15
so I ring again and tell them the chemist shuts at 5.30 so I need to know.
aibu in being anoyed that they are so slapdash in communication, as it is I lied I have 4 bottles in the cupboard, but they don't know this. why could they ring me when they realised.

Are you sure something fishy isn't going on?

silverfrog · 17/06/2010 17:41

oh that's crap 2shoes.

crap that they keep losing/wasting/throwing away her meds, and doubly crap thatthey aren't getting back to you to let you know whether they are needed or not.

ffs, not as though it is a spare pair of socks, is it? if she needs meds, she needs meds.

they have this odd rule, that when the bottle gets to empty to just use the syringe and you por some in a cup to measure, any left in cup can't be poured back into the bottle, but has to be poured away.

That seems a bit daft 2 shoes. Even when you draw up meds from a cup, you can draw most of it up. Only a few drops would need to be chucked away.

You could check the measurements in the full bottle and do a calculation of how much they should be getting through. If it's way off the mark, then it's a bit suspicious isn't it? Or someone can't measure properly/

I know it's not a nice thought but is the medicine something with a street value, like diazepam?

ask your pharmasist for a kwill (i think that is the right spelling) its like a straw for syringes and if the bottle is big enough can be kept inside when not in use. hence you don't have to emtpy anything into a cup. but if this is not possible, then provide them with a measuring pot (like what you get on night nurse) and get them to measure out the right amount, then no wastage.
but if their qualfied then surely they should know all this stuff?

they arn't allowed, even with the melatonin, they can't use the stopper and syringe.
no DD is for her extra movements and not expensive, just annoying.

sneezecake · 18/06/2010 19:32
