WHAT ARE SCHOOL UP TO

Anyone else experienced a school suddenly increasing the official level of intervention without a noticable change in the amount of help their child gets in the classroom?

DS2's school have upped him from a stage 2 to a stage 3 intervention despite continuing slow but steady progress. Another child of a friend of mine in the infants has been put on stage three too.

I was wondering about it and then realised that two children with special educational needs are leaving for high school after the summer, you get more funding for stage three interventions.

They are using DS2 to balance their school budget aren't they?

I feel distinctly used, especially when their attempts to help in the past have been painfully slow and intermittant (and unimaginative!). He better get much better help next year but i have a feeling that the same old TA's will be shared round everybody on a piecemeal basis as usual.

naughty naughty Perhaps a letter to ask what additional support measures you should expect to see, now that your DS is on stage 3 intervention?

I actually wouldn't mind that much if they they were honest about it, then I could challenge them about it more easily.
