...Acrylic glass, screws, hinges, hasp& staple, and wood.

As DD1 is now the escaping and climbing performer, we have tried to foil her wyley ways.

My Dear Father has lined the bannisters with Acrylic glass, so that there is nothing to climb on to reach the newel post.

He has also fitted a hinged wooden bar across our laundry cupboard, so that when we have it shut, the girls can't pull out the laundry tubs. If DD1 can't pull the tub out, she can't stand on it. If she can't stand on it, she can't climb over the stairgate

Your dad should go into business! DS2 is a little escape artist, and I could do with some ASD proofing myself!

Dd2 is good at finding things to climb on, she used to use her potty to climb onto the tv cabinet, i took it away so she collected up her books, piled them up so she could climb up. Now she's bigger she can get up without using anything. Dd2 spends most of the day locked in the sitting room which is ASD proof (well almost), luckily she hasn't worked out how to climb the stair gate. When i open the stair gate she has a field day, pulling everything out, raiding the kitchen and putting things down the loo .

hrmm oddly asd proofing seems similar to ferret proofing, so best of luck with that

I tired so hard to make my house safe, went in the lounge one day to find Dd2 [who is NT] standing on the fireguard to reach the ornaments on the mantelpiece, gulp. It kind of made me want to give up!!

I do feel like giving up But as my Dad said today "we will just have to keep on trying to either catch up or being one step ahead of her. Whatever we do now, she will find something else, and we'll have to sort that."

I am comforting myself that our house may not be pretty, but it is.....functional

lou I can see how draining it is, and I know it has been tough lately, but honestly, the more you post about your dd, the more great and funny I think she is.

She is fantastic star

She was 'reading' a book to us tonight.

Every time anyone asked a question, she put her fingers to her lips, said "Shhhhh" and started again.

"It called.....duck....truck"

Me: "okaayy"

DD1: "SHHH!
It called....duck...truck"

"It got red truck on front, and....on the back...green truck. Green my favorite colour. But red truck is big."

Me: "That's nice, you like the green truck?"

DD1: "SHHHH!
It called.....duck....truck...."

lou - we love Duck in the Truck stories! That was the first book that DS1 ever let us read to him. (DS2 has never let us read to him and it's now hidden in our bedroom so it doesn't end up either lined up on the floor (both boys - death trap) or ripped to shreds (DS2 - likes peeling book covers apart then shredding the entire book)).

Ineed2 - Ornaments? Wassem, then?
