... for school to give the children World Cup football teams to follow? DS2 got Australia and despite preparation for what might happen he has lost it and is throwing things around - he said 'I am so ashamed I have failed miserably' - we cannot convince him that it is the team which has won. Long evening ahead ... Grrrrr.

... and what do you know, today he won't go to school. Oh I do feel for him. Calling for Special School prospectus today, but not sure really what will make a difference for him. We are lucky because MS school makes the accommodations for him and he is only there short time a day, but it is still not working.

Schools really don't think when they organize these things . Dd1's school are doing a 'sun flower comp', they have all planted sun flowers and the biggest win's, i planted dd's outside last week and it has now been attacked by slugs (i cant put pellets down as dd2 eats them), dd1 is now upset that she wont win the comp.

Dd1 is also taking the world cup very seriously and will only cheer on England, she will be very upset when England are knocked out .

I feel for you - schools really don't think about SN children when they do these things do they?

My DD came home last week telling me that they were having a speach competition and that Simon Cowell was coming! She was beside herself with excitement. Obviously, realising that this couldn't be true i had to phone the school to find out what was said. (I had presumed that they'd said it would be a bit like Britain's Got Talent.)

Apparently, the teacher had said that special guests would be watching including another teacher and Simon Cowell. The rest of DD's class obviously understood this to be a joke but this wasn't understood by DD. I couldn't tell her it was a joke as she'd be upset that her teacher had lied so i had to make up a story that he'd been invited but couldn't make as he's auditioning for X factor. She's devastated.

Hope your DS is ok.

It's a minefield isn't it. He has spent the day in PJs and his precious blanket. DS1 is off ill and I had to go to the doctor with DS2 in tow - no way could I get DS2 dressed so we just went like that - am learning not to bother getting embarrassed
Feel for your DD newlife, if my DS has misunderstood something we have a tricky situation where only the person who has said the thing in the first place can correct it, no matter what we say!

Meant to to say sorry about the sunflower too Marne. Can you try another one indoors (it might even get more chance there given the weather!), or will DD not go for that if it is a different seed (maybe teacher has some spare?)
