ear plugs

my DD(13) came home from school yesterday (she is there part time now, after a period of home school as she couldnt cope with it) asking when i would be getting her the ear plugs her OT suggested. I thought school were getting them so now need to get some pretty quickly.

She has sensory issues, and is really struggling with the noise levels in class, hence the ear plugs.

Can anyone recommend any to me please? I am not too sure how these would work for her, as she cant even manage to put the ear phones from her mp3 player into her ear - or is this a completely different thing?

And preferably, is there any i can get from the high street - so we dont have to wait for delivery times etc?

many thanks

I don't know about the high street unfortunately, but I've got myself some super duper ones off Amazon. I've got very sensitive hearing and a noise phobia relating to fireworks. I'm off to a festival in July and will be taking them to protect my hearing (have a visual impairment so I don't want my hearing damaged) and they're supposed to cut noise by 37db. Here's a link here

Good info here
I recommend the Peltor ear defenders (the children love them) plus the Snore Store do a bag of assorted ear plugs, all of them are good. Bag is about £10 but you get 10 different types.

Snore Store

They do children's earplugs as well but I find that my 13 year old copes well with the women's earplugs.

(They are also fab for blocking out musak in supermarkets)

Snorestore are great, very quick delivery. I use the silicone earplugs as they mould to your ears and are very comfortable.

I use these for both of my boys ear defenders

I like the look of the ear defenders, dd2 is getting better with sound but they might be a good idea for her.

I second the Peltors. DS2 has some for school as he is noise sensitive, and they have been great. He can hear talking through them as well, just loud noises blocked out.

thanks again. It is to block out background noise in class (lots of chatter etc). I think she would be too self conscious for the headphones type, so will try the snorestore ones first i think.

many thanks

hi again,

we received the lovely little lilac bag today, and DD only likes the silicone ones, so instead of the foam type plugs sitting in the drawer - i thought i would ask if anyone could use them and i would send them on

There is about 5 or 6 pairs.
