Retained Reflexes

Has anyone tried the David Mulhall Centre for help with retained reflexes? Did it help?

Or has anyone tried any other clinic / treatment / programme for retained reflexes? And what have your personal experiences been like?

Thanks in advance

Hiya-I do reflex inhibition with an INPP practitioner and we have found it invaluable but expensive. DS (5) has dyspraxia and ASD diagnosis and co-ordination and balance issues. Been doing specific exercises for 9 months and now seeing some real improvements in most areas including behaviour and socialising. Now there is no real hard evidence for any of this and no sound scientific research to back up any of their claims whatsoever and many wd dismiss this because of this. BUT for us at least it has had some really positive benefits...think Mulhall centre use brushing technique and I know nothing about this as a way of inhibiting reflexes as we do specific stereotyped exercises.
Dont expect instant results as it has taken 8-9 months to see a benefit and it could be argued that natural neuro maturation may have seen the same effects...but for us the benefits have been enormous and some of the results cant be simply explained by a maturation process alone as DS sensory problems do seem to be gradually disappearing.
HTH-let me know if you want more specific details and wd be interested to know how you get on!!

I have a friend who has been going to David Mulhall with her DS (no diagnosis but I guess mild dypraxic tendencies) - she says she has seen big improvements - I was sceptical but they have been doing it for about a year and think it has made a big difference, am sure it is worth investigating.

Riven - I checked INPP for DD and very much seems targeted for dyspraxia - no mention of brain injury at all

DD still has moro - very obvious now she's 3.

did exercises for retained reflexes through sensory trained OT. as oddgirl says, took a few months, but definitely saw a significant improvement.

I found out that Sound Learning Centre also do a program for retained reflexes, so I might try them, cause we did other therapies with them and they were brilliant.
