DD1 has HFA but no added ones on top. She is forever chokig on her food and its getting worse. She wont eat certain foods anyways and now she is refusing foods tat make her choke more.
Is this an ASD thing?
Its not a mind thing as she does in all seriousness choke and have to be slapped on the back.
anyhelp welcome

Dd1 used to gag on food but seemed to grow out of it around 4 year old, she's now 6 and is a very fussy eater, she wont eat anything too wet or to dry . I would say 'its a ASD thing' maybe linked to sensory issues?

MY DD1 (13) was only recently diagnosed with ASD but as a baby and toddler she was always choking. when I say choking I really mean choking. The totally silent, going blue, having to be turned over and thumped on the back realy hard several times kind of choking. She frightened the living daylights out of me regularly. I don't know if there's a recognised link so it could be coincidence.

She has got better as she got older but still does it occasionally. She also has sleep apnoea which is apparently linked to strength of throat muscles so I'd be interested to know how common that is in children with ASD or who choke a lot.
