Hi debs. Sorry, we're just back from a weekend away.
Overall, the report.probably describes dd1 reasonably well. I would say, though, that dd1 never performs well in standard testing. She does disengage, and also deliberately gives the wrong answer to elicit help .
That said, I would say that, given dd1 was formally tested, that is what I would expect, mostly.
I would have thought she would do better pointing to animals, but Tue test was for linguistic concepts, and so she might have been asked "point to the next next to the elephant" for eg, which she wouldn't necessarily.get right first time.
I completely.agree that most "concept" words are missing. Dd1 has no clue about first/last etc. And again with complex instructions. She is ok up to a point (prob 2 key words, maybe 3), but then switches off after that.
It.seems quite.accurate, as far as testing goes, but dd1 does have more language than comes across from the test. I would say she can formulate verbs well (can use correct tense for today/yesterday), has a broad concept of time (as in whatever thing happened in the day, and immediate past and present differentiation) and knows left/right and can give (very basic) directions along as there are only 2 steps!
If she had met the SALT before, I think the test result would have been a bit different, but she would also have tried to manipulate the therapist more. Also, she though she was going for an OT.session (which she loves) so to be taken away from that to look through some pictures as prob not her idea.of fun . The repetitive language does still really come out when she is stressed, so the amount of that showed is a measure of how bothered she was.
