Ed Psych appointment

DS has got the Ed Psych coming in on Friday. The SENCO said she will speak to me for half an hour and then observe DS. I thought she was coming in to do some assessments. I don't see observation will add much as we have had Autism Outreach in already.

Do you know if you specifically have to ask for them to assess a child rather than observe or do Ed Psychs do both?

I have tried to contact her myself and I'm hoping she'll get back to me.

ime ed psychs will do what the school ask them to. They can do various assessments and abservations but tend to follow the brief from the school. hth

My two had assessments by the ed psych for the input for their statements. Since then the ed psych has only observed them a couple of times to provide input for annual reviews etc.
I suppose the theory being she was aware of their capabilities and tthe school could document their progress and her role was seeing how they functioned within school with the support they had.
Mine were assessed though at home and at their office so the ed psych had no experience of them in a classroom situation (too young and not in nursery at time of initial assessment) so not sure if my experience is typical tbh.

Oh no, I've just found out it is tomorrow not Friday which means Mrs wishy-washy teacher 'everything is lovely and fine' is teaching. Great!
