if they are that bothered then they should be offering patient transport, surely.....

they talked about staying overnight but just not possiable becuase of dd and ds3 bad enough i have to leave tomorrow at 5am!! leaving ds1 holding the fort till mum gets in from work at 8am

Think i ll just tell them that mums in carpark .Its just bad timing all round the chair stuff , school, then ds3 has 2 appointments differnt places thursday i localish other one other side of county then same again on Tuesday next week one bit local then other at Addenbrooks , then ds2 will have 1 week after .So staying in or spending money that dont have on a taxi just not going to happen

Who is talking about staying overnight? The ward/unit staff - nursing staff or the anaesthetist?

When my DS had his MRI he had a light GA, the anaesthetist was happy for him to leave an hour later (provided he was fully alert) but the ward staff wanted him to stay for 4 hours. I self discharged as I felt he was fine and fully back to normal but the nursing staff were twitched about it.

They are acting in your DS' best interests but are sometimes led by protocol which may not apply to every pt, if you feel your DS is well enough to travel and you are confident you can deal with anything adverse happening then just tell them firmly and politely, remind them its called informed choice (something they sometimes forget pts/relatives have.....)

Good luck with it all sounds like a hectic day!
