Holiday nerves

Going to America next week, DS has AS and I'm really apprehensive, he went into a mini meltdown at the cinema today as his film was cancelled, what will he do if that's his flight??
Feel sick with nerves, what have we done? Have never been out of Europe. What kind of hell will an 8hr flight be? How do we negotiate fast passes at theme parks?
I'm clueless!

We took our DS with Aspergers to Australia twice and lived to tell the tale. Must admit I was really worried when his screen didn't work on the plane, but we were able to change seats after take off so he got one that did.
Take his DS/PSP and anything else that might distract him.
Have you got one of those cards from the National Autistic Society that says "This young person has AS...." and then outlines possible difficulties. I always carry one so that of he has a meltdown I can show it to onlookers, cabin crew etc.
Perhaps you should explain to him about the ash cloud so that if it happens he has at least had a warning.
This probably isn't much help- and no idea about theme parks as DS doesn't "do" them.Sorry.

Gulp - haven't even thought to worry about his screen not working!
We've talked about the ash cloud but they change the subject pretty quickly!
We have got an NAS card but though I'd better take a copy of a doctors letter as well?
Did you contact the airline before you went? I'm thinking about it.

No we didn't - didn't even think of it, but it might help.
