OK, starting a positive, upbeat thread here. After nearly two years wearing the same pants (washed daily obv , DS agreed to wear whole new pants bought from a shop today. Yippeee...... Two years of washing and drying (sometimes with hairdryer in desperation when caught short!) the same undies.

We did a family dance!!

yay

claw3 · 17/05/2010 22:13

woo hoo!

What kind of undies are they? (still working on undies and ds)

FuckingNinkyNonk · 17/05/2010 22:15

LOL. Fantastic news

roundthebend4 · 17/05/2010 22:23

Lol that's great news

AIBU to let my son wear the same pants for two years? Shall I post that one?

The bizarre thing, Claw, is that they are bogstandard plain briefs from Sainsbos. We have tried alsorts of action hero fancy pants (that's what usually works with socks and t-shirts) to no avail. On Saturday he said ' I think I need to see a doctor to overcome my fear of pants' . DH suggested a plain pair. I poo pooed it but lovely soft plain pair went down a treat!!

Go and buy a few of them in case they are discontinued.

claw3 · 17/05/2010 23:58

LOL that should cause a stir!

and i will go for AIBU to let my son go commando?

Al1son · 18/05/2010 09:23

Don't buy any more!!!!

If you do that he'll decide he can't wear them after all the very next day!

I thought I'd made a terrible mistake on Sunday when (with her blessing) I patched one of the two pairs of trousers DD2 will wear. She doesn't wear skirts or dresses either and the there was more hole than trouser leg.

We had an hour of sobbing interspersed with screams of rage and asking why I am so nasty and hate her so much. I thought she never put them on again.

Then yesterday after school she picks them up off her bedroom floor where she'd flung them and put them on as if nothing had happened!

Maybe there's something in the air?

Perhaps I could add to you're AIBU thread that my DD has worn the same trousers for the past year and sleeps under a cheap fleece dog blanket.

MiladyDeWinterOfDiscontent · 18/05/2010 09:29

at the thought of these AIBUs!

Seriously though debs that is fantastic news and how sweet is your ds?

niminypiminy · 18/05/2010 09:39

Debs that is wonderful news, well done DS!

(I'm still remembering the family joy when ds1, who'd been wearing one t shirt all summer, turned inside out if I hadn't been able to wash it, decided he could wear another.)

silverfrog · 18/05/2010 10:30

oh brilliant!

I well know the dilemma of whether to buy more new ones or not...

dd2 is going through similar at the moment - we are waiting with baited breath to see whether it is toddler-lie control issues (she is 3.2) or deeper ASD/OCD issues (looking more and more likely everyday) - shoes are ehr big issue at the moment.

I dread taking her to the shoe shop as she cannot cope with having new shoes at all

claw3 · 18/05/2010 13:05

Silver, shoes have to be exactly the same, just next size up!

No pants and no trousers without an elasticated waist. Breakfast, lunch, dinner has to be exactly the same every day and to think a few years ago, i had my doubts if ds was on the spectrum

silverfrog · 18/05/2010 13:14

yep, lunch exactly the same every day (could be cross over form dd1 though - dd1's biggest control issues are around food)

I spent all winter convincing dd2 she needed to wear a vest (and jumper if outside, no chance of it inside!)

now it is warm again, I canot convince her NOT ot wear a vest

shoes exactly the same? - I wish I could. she is only 3, and tiny, and the ranges change so quickly... she still has pink/red/whatever shoes with fairies/flowers/cats on them... willbe SO much easier when she is in school shoes! (mind you, I do always feel a bit sorry for dd1, with little choice on footwear)

last time, we managed to find the same shoe, but in summer colours, not winter colours . It took us 45 mins to persuade her they were the same (they were a lighter pink colour). In the end, the lady in the shop showed her that the soles were the same (have stars and flowers on) and after inspecting very closely, dd2 conceded they were "nearly the same"

she still wept all the way home, htough!

dd1, who actually has that ASD dx, is a breeze with change in routines etc

I obviously have odd children

debs40 · 18/05/2010 13:43

Don't you hate changes in the seasons....getting a winter coat...or wearing shorts! God forbid. I had to buy three pairs of school PE shorts in different colours last year as they were the only shorts DS would wear on holiday.

Shoes and socks are madness for us too.

Ds wears a coat with the hood up, even when its 90 degrees outside!

Ds is also petrified of teddy bears or stuffed toys or puppets. No wonder he didnt sleep for the first 2 years of his life, he had tons of them all staring down at him from a shelve above his cot!

TheArsenicCupCake · 19/05/2010 00:19

Yay on the new pants!!

And omg I didn't realise other mums ... Lots of you have issues with dc's who totally have to wear the same thing all the time!

( arsenic sets a coming out announcement)

I am arsenic my ds has worn only two t shirts and one acceptable jumper for eighteen months! ( he is 11 so we get a bit more choice)

and haa at pants... Yes yes yes!
