Wheelchair insurance that covers damage by baggage handlers

Does anyone know of any wheelchair insurance (manual wheelchair) that will cover damage caused by baggage handlers?

We are about to take our child's wheelchair abroad for the first time as we are going on holiday and wondered which policies cover damage to wheelchairs caused by baggage handlers.

Has anyone travelled with an Invacare Blade Plus before? Any tips?
Does the wheelchair usually get stored in the hold or can it squeeze on board in the wardrobe for example (we used to do this with her Quinny Zapp pushchair which folded up very small and BA were always fab and allowed us to put it in the wardrobe or overhead locker)?
Do they take the wheelchair as you board the plane and return it at the plane door when you arrive?

We are travelling from Heathrow to Nice and vice versa.

have travelled a few times with that wheelchair and it has always gone in the hold last and been given back to us after landing(we did find that by requesting the ambulift at the destination airports nearly always helps the situation)as they then don't have a choice!

we take an empty bag through with us and remove the cushion and leg plates and then take them on board with us(usually cabin crew find somewhere for them)so that they do not get knocked off and lost.

we took out an annual travel insurance(specifically in relation to child with disability to ensure we were covered about £130 per year eek-but worth it eg child has cp if she fell and damaged herself we would be covered likewise for wheelchair and afo's)

Thanks for the advice Chatee!

I hadn't thought of taking the legplates off only the cushion, so will take the legplates off also.

I like the tip about the ambulift.
