Got dd booked in on Monday with a really good guy in Chessington. Anyone taken their child to cranial?

HITC,
No, in Cambridgeshire. I had a look in Yellow Pages and there's no shortage of possible practitioners, but I don't really know who to choose. Is there a registered body or anything do you know?

thanks

I'll ask my friend if she knows of anyone. Or if there is any particular qualification or registered body (think there is). She is away at the moment though.

Thanks that would be great.

My son had a session at 22 months and it was fantastic. She told me that his head was "tight" and she did a few manipulations. He was really "with it" that day as i remember, though very unsettled. Its £40.00 a pop unfortunately which prevents me from going very often

Tried it....didnt do anything for DS. Others I know have had a positive response, but it really didnt help J at all and the CO told us he didnt think it would be beneficial for him after our first visit.....we stuck with it for a further 8 visits and the stopped.

List of cranial osteopaths here:

Sorry, can't do links.

Before taking J I discussed it with one of the practitioners and was told that the earlier you start therapy the better, as the bones are more malleable. Ideally they like to work on children who still have their milk teeth - apparently once the adult teeth are through the jaw closes up and it's harder to get results because the bones are more rigid. It is still possible to gain benefits even after that but there's less scope.

I am not joking when I say dd has been the calmest today then she has in a while.
Think there could be a link!

Baby had 2nd session monday and she found a tightness to the areas either side of his neck, this would be the reason for severe fussing at some feeds when he's tired.

She 'worked' on them and he has slept thru 8pm-10am with a feed about 7am every since, less fussing and happily turning head from 1 shoulder to the other, also happy lying on either side, b4 cry'd on left side.

He has another session next wk.

I can't think but it would be at the very least a lovely feeling for anyone - had a scalp massage with my haircut on Saturday and cor was it delicious.

Anyone know a good & sort of low-key contact in central London? - I'm not looking for serious therapy for ds, but he could definitely use something tactile that is calming and grounding.

Davros · 10/08/2005 19:34

HITC posted the name, The Osteopathic Centre for Children, formerly Harley st, now Clerkenwell. As far as I know, you pay what you can!?

binkie · 10/08/2005 19:41

Thank you! - sorry for overlooking, that was dim

Davros · 10/08/2005 19:45

Tell us if you go, I think HITC goes there. Its very well known.

took nt dd this week and last time nxt wk but osteopath was genuinely interested in ds's medical past and problems/difficulties and said he wants to give him cranial osetepathy. i was going to ask anyway but this sounds encouraging from such a perosn. will let you know how ds gets on once seen.
