Ds1 is ahead of a milestone in that a milk tooth is coming out at just turned six. I asked him to show me the tooth that was falling out not really expecting much but he pointed to it right away. Not much maybe but I was surprised he understood so quickly. I was not speaking at slow simple pace so maybe processing time is picking up.

DO you think he will inderstand putting it under his pillow for money? If not money, maybe another favourite treat?

Dreading the day DS2 loses teeth.

cyberseraphim · 11/05/2010 13:26

With a lot of repition yes but not sure has enough teeth

DS1 was not impressed with the whole fairy idea - 'there's clearly no such thing as fairies' when it was first suggested.

Likes the idea of the money under his pillow though

cyber good for DS1 - hope the fairy brings something nice!

god, am dreading this with dd1 as well.

what s the average age for teeth to start falling out, then? as I thought I was on borrowed time with dd1 already, as I have clear memories of one of mine coming out when I was 5 (just) and that wasn't the first!

well done mini-cyber for understanding and processing (and pointing too - not just understanding, but continuing an interaction! brilliant)

Well maybe around six is not so advanced. I just have vague memories of mine going at eight but quite possibly they were the last ones. I even got the tooth conversation/exchange on film. Thank you God and the I phone !

I had to leave a note on the front door "Tooth fairy don't come in DS2 doesn't want any money"

In the end we confessed that it was all pretend Just seemed kinder than having a scared child.

DD started losing her teeth some months ago (she is 6 in about two weeks' time). She has also got most of her second molars through. However, we have yet to see an actual tooth. They are loose...then they are gone, and we don't see the in-between stage. She's removing them or swallowing them or...who knows!! I tried explaining about the tooth fairy but she didn't seem that bothered (she's not exactly materialistic ). I got all worried about it but it didn't seem to bother her at all.

meltedmarsbars · 11/05/2010 21:46

Dd2 loses teeth and we sometimes never find them! She doesn't / can't tell us and unless I knock it out when brushing her teeth, or step on it in bare feet (grin) we don't realise!

However if we do get to put one under her pillow the other dc's are very interested!

Ds is 6 and had to have 5 teeth removed under GA in hospital. The 'tooth fairy' left a present for him on the end of his hospital bed for when he came round.

He wasnt impressed!

He isnt too impressed with Father Christmas either, he is more interested in how he gets into our house and how he knows his name, than the presents he leaves.

meltedmarsbars · 12/05/2010 09:42

Its a bit scary, an old man in a red suit burglarising our houses when we are all asleep, isn't it!

Very excited re the language processing there cyber, especially coupled with the recent "it needs new batteries" development.

I remember vividly the first couple of times I spoke casually and got a quick response (though mind you, I've now mixed up the first Ds1 answer with the first DS2 answer).

it was so nice to be able to relax the mouth muscles a bit!

claw3 · 12/05/2010 09:52

Meltedmars, yes so true!

Ds isnt impressed by much full stop. For Christmas he asked for ONE yellow felt tip pen, as his other one had run out. When he opened his presents, he just kept asking 'why did he bring me this, i never asked for it' at everything, but his yellow felt pen!

Ds doesnt like surprises

MiladyDeWinterOfDiscontent · 12/05/2010 10:06

I didn't even consider that this would be an issue but yes of course...

Love anon's note

DD once put her tooth in her ear for safekeeping. You should have seen the look I got from the person at the hospital desk when I frantically blurted out that she had a tooth in her ear. doesn't even begin to cover it.

silverfrog · 12/05/2010 12:36

Sorry, Milady, but had to at that - it's exactly the type of thing my dd2 (the NT one!) would do.

She shoved a raisin up her nose last month, for no particular reason, and when I said we'd have to go to the doctor to sort it out, she was really pleased she was really disappointed when it came out of it's own accord before dh got home (had ot wait for dh to stay wth dd1)

have spent the last month stopping her shoving random things everywhere (and I mean everywhere ) because she wants to go and see the doctor! Odd child...
