My ds has now been dx with adhd with autistic triats. He is 6.

They have prescribed Equasym XL 10mg caps for him one a day in the morning.

Has anyone any experience of this?
How the meds work?
Or any advice really.
All comments gratefully recieved thanks.

For a very detailed explanation, read 'A Natural way to treat ADHD' by Basant K. Puri....

The key thing about VegEPA is that it does NOT contain DHA, and that is why it works when other fish oil supplements do not. as far as I know it is the only supplement that contains the correct combination.

Anyone can publish a book. On anything. Do you have any info from someone who doesn't own the patent for vegEPA?

SorryPG, but the research you quote is not based on the specific combination of EPA, omega six and NO DHA.

Fair point ouryve, I have not researched online as I got my info from the book. I have no vested interest in this other than a strong desire to help others in our situation. if someone else had had the experience we have I would want to know about it but all I can suggest is that you give it a try and find out if it works for you.

Could you explain to me why the lack of DHA makes this supplement so effective compared with other fatty acid supplements. DHA is the one that is involved in neurological function, so it seems a bit odd that this is the one that is missed out and yet vegEPA supposedly works better as an ADHD treatment (and one for CFS and depression, if the author is to be believed) than other fish oil supplements.

It's also really hard to have a diet deficient in omega 6, unless you consume no plant based oils.

Sorry I can't explain it any more, I'm not a scientist and it is complex. However it is explained fully in the book. Unfortunately I can't refer to mine at the moment as I have lent it to a friend.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi really interesting posts here. My son who is 9 and just been diagnosed with ADHD has started on equassym 10mg about a month ago but we are not seeing much change except for massive outbursts of anger and rage in the evenings. Not sure if this is a side effect. I'm planning on going to docs tomorrow as wonder whether he should come off them. His behaviour is worse than before. Any advice?

Allthewaves · 31/05/2017 22:51

Are they going to increase his dosage? My ds with adhd is on 50mg and he's 8. The come down can be brutal at the start but we found some extra exercise and then ipad time helped.
