Really dont know. Hadn't heard of it before. Told 2 years ago could not get help if medical condition - don't tell me they've lied on this aswell.

"What about Sudden and Significant Medical Funding (SSM) and First Year of Schooling (FYS) Funding?
Schools will only need to apply to the Single Area Panel for such funding if they consider the need to be 20 hours or greater. If the need is deemed by the SAP to be 20 hours or above PSF will fund the provision. If the need is deemed by the SAP to be below 20 hours the school will fund the provision.

What about extensions to existing SSM funding arrangements?
The current scheme will apply to any arrangements that have time to run, ie funding agreed until the end of the Autumn Term 2009 or Spring Term 2010 applies. Schools can apply for further extensions to SSM funding where medical condition still exists, but only at the currently agreed level and where evidence can be provided that the level of need is the same. The new scheme will apply to any new requests for increased levels in the same school or following a move to another school. So basically the LEA will leave it up to the school to sort them out unless your DD needs more than 20 hours per week support.

Katy - there were discussed changes to our County's Fair Funding Scheme with regard to SEN funding recently and I think (I should know) that pupil specific funding was part of this. Am way too sleepy now but will look up all the stuff tomorrow.

Katymac · 04/05/2010 22:21

Thanks Hassled

It's done differently for EY I think (not had one for a while)

Hassled - doe this make sense?

Right then - ignore what I said about changes; that shouldn't affect you - it's about how the pot is divvied up between schools.

This is useful - there's an A-Z button top right, and then under P you can find some FAQs re Pupil Specific Funding. Hope that helps .

Thanks

'We have been told' (so I don't know how accurate it is - as a 'new' user)

The school is applying for Pupil specific Funding (for Severe & Sudden Medical) - this is term specific (so applying now for April - July)

It will take 4-6 weeks to process then they will recruit a new LA/TA (which will take 4-6 weeks)

So DD will have help for about the last week of term

Then when we go back in September it will be reapplied for (taking 4-6 weeks to process then recruiting)

Surely this can't be right?
