I took DS1 (ASD) and just turned 6 to the cinema. It was 'How To Train Your Dragon'. He sat very quietly for about 30 minutes then wanted to go back out to the escalators ( i think the cinema has more escalators than anywhere else in Scotland so definitely Nirvana!). Unless it is Thomas or Bob the Builder though he is not likely yet to actually follow the story. But it feels like a success. We sat right at the front but near the exits He does not have issues with noise or darkness so have always wanted to try 'normal' cinema first.

Thats great! Friends i know whose kids do have issues with darkness etc go to the GFT, they have autism friendly screenings the first saturday of every month, also open to other disabilities too
Adults are free with a kids ticket and kids go free if they have a Glasgow kidz card, might get one for glitteryboy some time as he goes to school in Glasgow, then at least it wont cost me anything if he hates it!
Only been to the cinema twice, first time was Bob the Builder/Pingu second time was Happy Feet, think it was too loud!

The GFT is my favourite cinema but then can it really be autism friendly without escalators ..... It's the one obsession that has never died down.

Glitteryboy LOVES escalators especially watching people go up and down!
He'd love to go on one but i dont fancy trying to balance the wheelchair, it might end up like a scene from one of those dodgy 70's safety adverts!
