For a child with ASD?

I am really trying to intorduce some new toys and am looking for some ideas!

DS loves his wooden Ninky Nonk and plays with it all the time, but I am looking for some other things that he might like.

Dd2 liked the wooden ITNG stacking cubes which i got from Tesco's before x-mas for 2.00.

At the moment she likes her tea set, elc farm, happyland and her waybuloo character toys.

Anything with wheels is good.

Does he have a special interest?

DS1 loved wooden train track, we have a mixture of second-hand brio, ELC, tesco (they all fit together), and trains (some ELC Thomas). But then he was a train obsessive.

Another toy that was worth every penny spent on it was a playmobil Bin Lorry, which is still going.

Finally, he loved his toy buggy so much that he wore out three (mind you only a fiver from ELC). It went everywhere with us -- normally with a train or two in it .

For DS1, when he was much younger and showing a strong interest in letters and number, it was his Vtech Alphabet Desk and his Fisher Price Calcubot. On the non-electronic side, it was, and still is, his megasketcher. He's on his second one.

For DS2, when he was 2, he wasn't playing at all appropriately with toys, so we chose toys that would reward him for actions. The fisher price piggy bank was great for that - in no time, he was putting the coins in the slot. We also tried the cookie jar, but the pieces were really hard for him to manipulate.

A toy my sister bought him for Christmas when he was tiny, a musical lion, ended up getting replaced when he puked all over it, since he loved it so much. He still plays with it and he's nearly 4! Now he's moved on to joining in with the songs - no words, but he knows all the tunes!

The sticklebrix DS1 got for his second birthday is still proving its worth - he's currently indulging his current interest in cars by building a road, with street lights, signposts and everything for his matchbox cars!

Without a doubt its the trampoline, hours & hours of use in all weathers.

I bouht DS3 this for christmas after seeing it reccommended by soeone on here (think it was Marne), and DS2 (ASD, 4) loves playing with it. The musical instruments spin around and the music is different each time, depending on what instrument you put on it.

DS2 also loves the Fisher Price Imaginex range, which is lovely and sturdy and withstands his rough playing.

Another recommendation (not really a toy but great fun), i bought dd2 one of these for her birthday (as well as a CD player), it projects light onto the wall, someone recommended it to help dd2 get to sleep but we use it as a disco light, she puts on Lady Ga Ga and has her own little disco .

Also another vote for megasketcher.

Ds at 2-3 enjoyed sliding toys down the ramp on his toy (happyland) garage and buttons to press. He loved pushing wheeled toys - so a toy pushchair worked well (with trains or cars in). As he got older he really got into playmobil ships playing with doors/ ramps or flaps now (ds is 10) its the figures (pirates/soldiers/vikings) and lego men. Playmobil is robust.
