AIBU to expect towns to be more disabled friendly?

Today i took the dds to Weymouth (to do a bit of shopping and go on the beach), i expected the beach to be a problem with the Mac Major but didn't expect the problems we met to get to the beach.

We parked in the multistory car park, after driving around the car park i found a sign on one level pointing to the lift so i parked on that level, when we got to the lift i noticed there were 4 steps leading up to it. What is the point in having a lift for disabled and buggys if you have to climb steps first? , so i had to lift dd2 out the buggy, place her on the top step and dd1 pinned her down (so she wouldn't run off) whilst i lugged the pushchair up.

Next we went to Costa for a drink and a cake, there was no space for a buggy (so i moved the tables) and nobody offered to carry my tray (containing a hot drink) and staff watched as i struggled to dodge around tables and chairs whilst pushing dd2 and spilling my drink .

So we finally get close to the beach and dd1 decides she wants the toilet (even though i had asked her in Costa), we find the toilets by the beach which are down a steep set of steps, i tell dd1 that i can't get the buggy down the steps and dd1 doesn't want to go on her own (by now i am getting pissed off), i go and ask a lady in the snack bar where the disabled toilets are and she sends me around the back of the building, the toilets need a key fob to open them (which i don't have as DLA wont let me claim mobility for dd2), eventually someone lets us in to the toilet.

The dd's played on the beach for 5 minutes because i couldn't get the buggy close enough to the sea with out dd2 getting out and running into the sea (which she did last summer) and then we go home.

I am really .

It must be even more annoying for people in wheelchairs.

Why is a town so poorley equiped for desabled people?

Does anyone else get annoyed by this?

Durham is absolutely dreadful, but with the age of the buildings and the way the streets are laid out, there's little that can be done, for some places. Even registering DS2's birth was a pain (literally), having to walk down a long, bumpy street form the car park, lug 2 buggies up steps into the building and carry a baby and a hyperactive toddler upstairs. Wheelchair users have to make a special appointment, sometimes at a different registry office.

As it is, I've never taken both boys there, alone. Just couldn't do it. It's hard enough and there's places we can't go with 2 adults, DS2's buggy/major and DS1, who is grabbing everything and pressing every button he can while we try to get in and out of buildings.
