Kayleigh-May has low muscle tone she is 21mths now and we have noticed she always slumps in her prams/buggies and luckily i am a pram addict so have tryed a good few on her finding she sits best in her pliko p3 BUT we have noticed she is now slumping forwards over the bumper bar and when asleep her neck is twisting and she lies in very weird way where her head is agaisnt the back rest but her back arches then her bum on seat bit really hard to describe tbh..

She isnt walking was cruising but has recently stopped cruising along furniture to,she slumps in highchair and booster chair so been given a special needs chair by portage which seems to help her sit loads better should i see about getting her a special needs buggy if so what am i entitled to via the nhs does anybody know she is far to tiny for a mcclaren major which we now have for my ds2.

Can the slumping cause her tone to weaken and what recommendations sn buggy wise is there for her ? xx

My DGS (19 mo) slumps in his nice M&P pram system but is perfect in a second hand Loola comfort buggy, forward and backward facing. He is also a little 'archer' but cant do it in this buggy. I think OT or physio can help source a good SN buggy, tho we have no experience of such a small size. The swifty look excellent for the bigger toddler tho.

We had the loola she hated it and looked squashed in it she does seem happier in the pliko's and hates umbrella buggies screams whenever we put her in any same with the zia i bought her i just dont want her to be uncomfortable will look up the swifter now xx

Hiya Jan,
My dd used to be very slumpy and still can when she's tired. We've done loads and loads to try and strengthen her trunk muscles and she now sits much better. I tried lots of pushchairs to ensure she didn't slump in them and we now have a Maclaren XT which is quite upright and she doesn't slump in this even when asleep. The worst is her car seat - she looks awful if she goes to sleep in it.

I used to have a Pliko which was good for my dd as the straps aren't attached to the back so she used to move around more in it when she was awake.

There is something called a kidsert which fits into your average stroller to help with support.

Not cheap, but may tide you over till you finally get to wheelchair services for a special buggy.

The kidsert looks good and i saw the swifty today in my local shops it looks good buggy but i cant find it anywhere online we are seeing physio next week so will ask her advice also thankyou xx

Ive got the swiffty for my nearly four year old. It would be to big for any one much smaller (he is quite big). It does recline slightly, just enough that his head doesnt fall forward when he is asleep, it is great to push but it is very expensive and so are the accessories.
