Cued articulation SALT - anyone used it?

My little girl is having severe speech difficulties (age nearly 3 so no definite diagnosis yet, but excellent SALT support fortunately). On SALT's advice we are going to start using 'Cued Articulation' with her which is a system to sign all the sounds (different to sign language). I was just wondering if any of you have used this system and could share your experiences?
Thanks

We used it to a degree with DD#1 - I can't really say if it helped or not as we did lots of things with her, but it is not hard to pick up the cues yourself and you will find yourself doing it even later on when it is not as necessary! The idea is that the finger(s) position helps to remind them of the mouth shape or movement to make. Alongside the main thing we used was the nuffield dyspraxia programme - they have picture cards for different sounds - so rather than reading a letter the picture tells them the sound (eg drum picture for d, dripping tap for t etc) we would use the cards and the cued articulation gesture for each sound and work one sound at a time, eventually moving on to blending sounds, etc
